Imphal, January 21, 2012:
The Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association (MCDA) has registered strong condemnation over the 'life attempt' on its general secretary by a member of the organisation on January 19 while a meeting of the association was going on at the association's office located at BT Road.
A statement issued today by the association's joint secretary, P Milan claimed that a member of the association identified as Sanjenbam Milan of Uripok Lamboikhongnangkhong, who runs a pharmacy at BT Road attacked the general secretary with an iron rod.
It further conveyed that the association resolved to terminate the membership of the culprit from the association.
Alleging interference in the internal matter of the association, it further stated that a person who identified himself as a member of a banned group has threatened the wife of the general secretary over phone.
It added that the man had also intervened in the meeting on January 19 and asked the MCDA to appoint the vacant executive committee members by January 20. Wondering if the said group has any relation with the person or if he has been authorised to interfere in the internal matter of the MCDA, the association has also sought clarfication from all concerned.
