Imphal West Commandos Friday killed a suspected UG cadre in an encounter at Kyamgei Santipur under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East.
The slain suspect has been identified as Md Zamir (30) of Keirao makting Awang Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol, three live rounds and three PEKs were recovered from the victim, police source said.
However, family members said that Zamir used to be a cadre of PULF in the past.
But he had been leading a normal life after he was arrested by Tripura Police and spending two years in the jail.
At present, he was serving as a compounder at his father dental clinic at Paona Keithel.
Some persons in civil dresses took him away yesterday morning around 11 .
Soon after, Minister Alauddin enquired about his arrest to Imphal East and Imphal West Police who denied his arrest.
In the meantime, his dead body was recovered today at Kyamgei Santipur.
Zamir was survived by his two months old son and his wife.
Local people of Kyamgei Santipur told mediapersons that Zamir was killed by the CDO team after they brought him there in their vehicle.
Locals further appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts in future and not to turn the area into a killing field.
On the other hand, Imphal West CDO claimed that Md Zamir was killed at the place in retaliation when he fired at the CDO team when they were on patrol.
Post mortem of the dead body was conducted today at the JNIMS mortuary and the body is lying at the mortuary since family members refused to take the body demanding justice.
Meanwhile, a JAC was formed against the killing of Md Zamir and condemned the fake encounter killing of innocent Zamir.
Members of the JAC will submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister tomorrow and will press to investigate the incident thoroughly to find out the truth.
