Imphal, January 21, 2012:
Delhi Police are yet to nab the rapist of a 20-year-old girl from Manipur even after claiming they have identified the culprit.
A release issued by spokesperson of NE Support Centre and Helpline informed that Delhi police found a bank ATM card belonging to the rapist from the spot and claimed that they have identified him and gave assurance to North East Support Centre & Helpline team that the culprit will be arrested within two hours.
It has been more than 48 hours and Delhi police are still to nab the culprit.
Having seen the inability of Delhi police to nab the culprit, the North East Support Centre and Helpline is worried.
Helpline has been taking updates on Delhi police action on the case through reliable sources.
A delegation would submit a memorandum to National Commission for Women to take up the case and demand that FIR No 11/2012 registered at Dwarka Sector 23 Police station against the rape case must include the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocity Act 1995 since the victim belongs to a tribal community.
It would also include demands such as the Delhi Police take action against the Spa Company where the victim was working for failure to follow Delhi Police 9 Points Safety Guidelines for Night Working women and the victim should be given justice as per SC/ST POA 1995. North East Support Centre and Helpline once again appeal to Delhi police to be alert as promise after the issue was raised at national level on safety concern about working women.
BPO companies must be ensured to follow strictly the Delhi Police 9 Points Guide Lines.
Defaulter must be prosecuted according to the law, said the statement.
The girl was raped by a man who offered a lift from Gurgaon to Mahipalpur and took to isolated place at Dwarka sector 20 and committed the crime.
The culprit attempted to murder her after raping repeatedly.
Victim hailed from Churachandpur district in Manipur.
She came to Delhi in 2010 and working in a spa centre at Gurgaon for last few months, added the release.
