Reminding on seasonaFoutbreak of Water-borne diseases with the arrival of summer like diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, jaundice etc the Directorate of Health Services caution the general public to take adequate precautionary measure.
The guidelines issued by the Directorate to prevent outbreak of diseases include boiling the drinking water and storing the same in a clean and hygienic manner; thorough washing of hands with soap after using toilets; avoid use of uncovered and leftover food and consumption of only easily digestible food-item; confined infants in warm condition; prevent washing and bathing in water sources used for consumption; and reliance on home-made food supplement like light red tea, salt and sugar mixed water, boiled food soup, chabon etc in case of diarrhoea while in case of loose motion ready to drink ORS solution should be given.
The Directorate also warned against skipping meals when infected with diarrhoea and continuance of breast-feeding in case of the patient being a child and immediate consultation of medical personnel if the infection persist.
