All Manipur College Teachers' Association has stated that the morale of the college teachers has been downed due to Govt's negligence toward then plight.
In a statement, general secretary of the Association E Iboyaima Singh lamented that the agreement signed with the Govt on the demands of the Association on March 29, 2004 has not be fulfilled till date.
The demands of the Association which the Govt has agreed to fulfil are direct appointment of college principals, appointment of a regular Director of Education (U), Cabinet discussion on retirement of college teachers as per UGC norms, promotion of PhD holder college teachers as Readers and setting up of a task force for proper maintenance of Manipur Education Service.
Decrying lackadaisical attitude of the Govt, the Association has submitted a representation ton May 2 along with eight more demands, Iboyaimainformed.
These new demands are providing arrears to those teachers who have been declared as senior and selection grade lecturers on December 1, 2004 as well as to those teachers who passed PhD before January 1, 1996, handing over the matter related to placement of teachers to a screening committee, provision for arrears to the Demonstrators/tutors, to oppose amalgamation of colleges in the name of rationalising teachers without a proper policy, pension benefit for those teachers for the intervening duration they worked before regularisation, introduction of new and up-to-date courses, payment of regular remuneration to part-time lecturers, Iboyaima informed.
