After having opened a website of the State Assembly, efforts are on to make all the sixty MLAs of the State to become computer literate.
According to a reliable source, a five-day computer training programme for the first batch of the MLAs has begun from May 2.The training programme is being jointly organised by Manipur State Assembly and National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the Ministerial Block of the State Secretariat.
Ten MLAs would undergo the training programme in each batch and it would continue till June 10, the source said, adding that computer experts from the NIC are imparting knowledge on basic concepts of computers, windows, internet, web browsing, e-mail, Microsoft Words and Microsoft Excel to the MLAs.
The first batch of the training programme would conclude tomorrow.
The ten MLAs who are taking part in the first batch of the training programme, as disclosed by the source, are Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, RK Dorendro, O Joy, P Parijat, Erabot Yumkhaibam, M Nilachandra, S Natum, C Doungel, Dr M Nara and N Biren.
Some of the MLAs including the CM due to prior engagements could not fully take part in the training programme, although some MLAs like O Joy and Dr M Nara undertook the training with great enthusiasm, it said.
