A peace and harmony run organised by Headquarters 57 Mountain Division was held at Leimakhong today.
GOC Major General GG Dwivedi and State Youth Affairs and Sports Department officials attended the programme.
The peace run which was flagged off from Pheidinga and KLP location was participated by hundreds of youth from all walks of life.
The youths also carried banners reading 'Run for Peace' and shouted slogan like "we want peace".
Welcoming the runners, GG Dwivedi said contribution of the youths in making the peace run a success will not go waste and termed their participation as opening new chapter in ushering peace and development in the State.
Asserting that youths of the State have a major role to play in bring peace to the State, the Maj Gen said that peace will, definitely prevail if the people desires.
Elaborating on the developmental works taken up by the Division, Maj Gen Dwivedi informed that a new computer training centre has been opened at Leimakhong for imparting Computer education to the people and at the same time efforts are being made to take various schemes to benefit young girls.
The valedictory function of the four day long adventure awareness camp was also held today.
Meanwhile, a PIB (DW) statement detailing the race organised under the aegis of Red Shield Division said the initiative was made to keep pace with 'winds of change' sweeping across Manipur and termed the overwhelming response as reflection of exuberance and enthusiasm as personifying the deep desire for brighter future of the youngsters.
