Imphal, October 04:
A Kuki armed group has reportedly seized three LPG carriers (bullet tanker) at Dimapur in connection with monetary demand.
According to an informed source, the bullet tankers engaged to supply LPG to the Sekmai Bottling Plant were impounded at Dimapur area since yesterday with the armed group demanding an undisclosed amount in exchange for the release of the vehicles.
The source further revealed that the UG group had served a warning to the Indian Oil Corporation to cough up the demanded amount failing which the bullet tankers would be torched.
In the meantime, taking into consideration the law and order uncertainty besieging the State and to avert acts of sabotage by disruptive elements the State Govt has declared the entire Sekmai Gas (LPG) Bottling Plant zone as 'protected area' with immediate effect.
An order to this effect has been issued by the Joint Secretary (Home) M Yaiskul that prohibits entry of public or unauthorised persons to or within the jurisdiction of the Plant.
