Imphal, September 13 2014 :
Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) on Saturday urged both the State and Central Governments to clarify on the 'latest position' of the extension of Suspension of Operation (SoO) between the two umbrella organisations of United People's Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO).
SAHILCA in a press release said the period of the current SoO agreement involving the UPF and KNO and the Manipur and Central Governments expired on August 21, 2014.It said the extension of SoO with the Kuki militant outfits is entirely based on tripartite agreement signed on mutual trust for political dispensation to ensure peaceful co-existence, harmony and to secure the feeling of oneness amongst all communities.
The association, however, said the State and Central Governments have not yet initiated any 'political dialogue' with the militant groups, adding that the extension of SoO should be the top priority to salvage the political solution in the interest of all concerned.
