After the deadly Ebola outbreak in West Africa, health officials in India have issued a warning at international Airports as passengers with Ebola virus could enter India.
Also, various other preventive measures are being taken up in most parts of India to ensure the disease does not spread in the country.
Manipur State director of health service and State epidemiologist, after setting up Ebola check posts at Mao gate, Moreh and Imphal Tulihal Airport to prevent the disease from entering the State, have set up an ebola detection check post at Jiribam under orders from higher authority.
However, lack of doctors and medical staff at Jiribam CHC is causing much hindrances in the Government's plan.
According to Jiribam MO in-charge Dr G Sharma, the check post, as per orders from the higher authority, though has been set up, there is still shortage of doctors and medical staff in CHC, Jiribam for efficient functioning of the check post.
Due to communication barrier with the Higher authorities, the check post suffers from want of medical instruments like Contact Laser Infrared Thermometer, et al.
Dr Sharma further added that the check post, at present, employs digital thermometer for examination.
IDSP, Imphal East, Sharma informed, would be visiting Jiribam post before long for a routine check up as part of the preventive measures.
He, therefore, appealed to the Jiribam populace to support Jiribam CHC in the process.
