Entries called for Laadli Media Awards

Population First, an NGO focusing on the population and health issues facing the country, has called for entries for the sixth Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity - Eastern Region.
The Eastern Region Awards are open to advertising and media professionals/freelancers from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura,and West Bengal.
Entries should be published/broadcast between 1st July 2013 and 30th June 2014 .
The last date for receipt of entries is 31st October 2014, according to a release.
News Reports, features/articles, editorials, Op-eds, investigative reports, Columns and Campaigns, Topical issue based programmes, series, radio plays from print and electronic media and ads and jingles from the advertising agencies for products, services and public service announcements as also features, social media campaigns from web media are considered for the awards.
Multiple entries, even across categories, are encouraged from individuals and media houses (group entry).
The winners will be chosen by a jury comprising of eminent personalities both from the media and social sector.
The awards ceremony for the Eastern region will take place in Guwahati.

The Laadli Media Awards were instituted in March 2007 as a Mumbai centric event and were subsequently taken to the National level with the support of the UNFPA.
These Awards have been instituted to acknowledge, highlight and celebrate the commendable efforts undertaken by Print and Electronic media (TV, Radio and Web) and Advertising Agencies, to promote gender sensitivity as an integral part of their work.
The entries for the Awards should analyze policies, programmes and laws from a gender perspective and highlight influence of gender perceptions on the functioning of police, judiciary, administrators and other service providers in the implementation of laws and programmes.
They must challenge gender stereo-types by focusing on men and women who are redefining their gender equations like changing work participation patterns of men and women, changing work distribution at home between men and women etc.
The entries should analyze the social, religious and economic factors that promote gender inequality and gender violence.
They must also be reports on current events from a gender perspective including disasters, communal riots, elections, sports events etc.
Entries must create awareness about pre-birth sex selection and other acts of gender discrimination and violence, interpret research, reports, documents e.g.census, economic survey, budgets etc.
from a gender perspective, and voice the experiences of survivors of gender violence .
