State Govt bids warm adieu to Duggal

Chief Minister O Ibobi today bade adieu to outgoing Governor VK Duggal in a solemn function held at the lawn of the CM's Secretariat at 4 pm today.
The farewell function was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, the Chief Secretary, the DGP and other high ranking civil and police officials.
Ibobi bade farewell to Governor VK Duggal and his wife lady Governor VK by presenting token gifts.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister remarked that Governor VK Duggal did a number of commendable jobs for the State of Manipur even though he was at the helm of affairs for just around eight months thereby winning love and affection of the people of Manipur.
Within this short period, VK Duggal visited every part of Manipur and collected a first hand account of the people's plight and expectations.
He also worked tirelessly for development in consultation with the Government of Manipur and the Government of India.

Before his stint as the Governor of Manipur, VK Duggal served as the Union Home Secretary.
Starting from this period, VK Duggal always lent extra efforts whenever any crisis gripped Manipur.
When essential goods could not be shipped through the National Highways due to prolonged blockades, VK Duggal took up necessary steps for airlifting essential goods up to Imphal airport, Ibobi stated.
In his brief speech, VK Duggal said that he felt elated while he was the Governor of Manipur even though it was for a very short tenure.
"I can never forget the love and affection I received from the people of Manipur.
The 12 days when I acted as in-charge Governor of Manipur after submission of resignation letter would be cherished forever in my life", VK Duggal said.
VK Duggal was kept in-charge of the Governor of Manipur after the State was gripped in a series of crises and through his sincere and relentless efforts, a sort of normalcy and public order was restored.
He also assured all possible assistance whenever he is called to.
VK Duggal would leave Imphal tomorrow and Governor of Meghalaya Krishan Kant Paul would arrive here the next day before he is sworn in as the Governor of Manipur at 3 pm the same day.
Until a new Governor of Manipur is appointed, Krishan Kant Paul would take additional charge of the Governors of Manipur and Mizoram.
