Imphal, May 21 2014 :
Status of salary and other bills sent by different departments to Treasury Department can now be checked online as the Treasury Department has opened a Facebook account.
According to an official of Treasury Department, the department opened a Facebook account so that the department can work in transparent manner and plug in all sorts of communication gaps between Treasury and other departments.
People may now seek information, give suggestions and comments by logging on to the department's FB account 'treasurymanipur'.
The department would take up necessary actions based on the complaints and questions made by people through the Facebook account.
The Facebook account would be a platform for communication and information sharing between the department and employees.
The official further informed that the department has completed preparations to launch an SMS service for sending instant replies to queries about the status of bills submitted to the department.
In the first phase, the SMS service would be provided to 450 DDOs posted in Imphal area.
Once the SMS service is launched, a computer generated message would be sent to relevant DDOs as and when the department receive bills sent by them.
When the bills are sent to bank, another instant message would be sent to the DDO.
This service can considerably reduce all kinds of communication gap between Treasury Department and other departments, the official added.
