Imphal, May 21 2014 :
Criticism against alleged incompatibility of the Manipur Public Service Commission in conducting/declaring the civil sevices examination 2014 (Prelims) continues particularly by student organisations with All Manipur Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM-Tombing) and All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union (AMMGSU) joining the chorus for declaring the preliminary examination as null and void.
ATSUM-Tombing asked the Manipur chief minister to cancel the results altogether and call for fresh recruitment.
In its representation to the chief minister ATSUM said, "The people's trust and faith is fading rapidly for failure of the MPSC in selection of candidates on merit basis during the recently declared MPSC-CSE examinations.
it is indeed disappointing that there has been a hue and cry from candidates in the recently declared MPSC CSE prelims 2014 on the question of 15-16 irrelevant questions which do not correspond to the answer keys" .
ATSUM said it is beyond one's imaginations as to why such mistakes are committed by the question setters of a prestigious autonomous body like MPSC.
"inadvertent mistake in one or two question is an exceptional case but errors in 15 answer keys is a mockery quite fit to be laughed at in such an era of sophisticated computer era," ATSUM added.
"It is pertinent to note the modus operandi of the MPSC in giving ample room to suspect favouritism, nepotism and culture of corruption in the selection process.
Either the UPSC or MPSC has never created such a history of declaring the examination results in phase wise as is the case with the MPSC of the present leaving a specious room for foul play," the ATSUM representation to the CM stated.
According to ATSUM, 70 percent of questions being copy-pasted from the UPSC exam from 2000-2013, subject experts must have encouraged their respective candidates to copy the spelling of KETTLE.
It is a disgrace and dishonour in the realm of a competitive world, the tribal student body felt.
To maintain the standard of the MPSC to the bench marks and avoid legal complication, your esteemed Government is fervently besee-ched to cancel the aforesaid examination and call for fresh examination to do justice to both successful and unsuccessful candidates, ATSUM suggested.
Meanwhile, expressing grave concern over the alleged controversial conduct of MCSCC 2014 (Prelims) exam, All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union (AMMGSU) has demanded cancellation of the same exam and to issue fresh notice for re-examination within seven days.
A press statement issued by the AMMGSU warned of launching different forms of agitation unless re-examination is conducted.
Any unwanted outcome arising out of it would be the responsibility of the State Govt and the MPSC, it asserted.
Holding all responsible officials of the Commission accountable for the whole controversy, the students' body also asked for the resignation of the officials on moral ground.
