Imphal, December 09 2021: The 7 day skill development training programme on food processing organised by the Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) came to a close today.

The skill development programme on Food Processing (value added fruits and vegetables, soy milk and paneer, spices and bakery products) was organised by MASTEC with support from Department of Science and Technology from December 3 .

The instructor and the trainee gave feedback about the skill development programme and 17 food products from the training programme was also displayed today.

9 ex trainees who had already been selected for start-up were felicitated while the trainees were presented certificate for completion of the training.

Devesh Deval, commissioner (ST), said as food is very much related to our lifestyle, and such skills related to food processing will help our life more content.

Gathering knowledge from the training, all the trainees can gain personal satisfaction as well as a means to kick start a new enterprise in production of processed food, including from fruits, vegetables etc.

Adding that a number of unique items are available in the State, Devesh Deval said processing such unique items for value addition can help in export of such items to other places.

For such initiatives, the Government and Banks are ready to extend their helping hands, he added.

He also strecthed on the need to identify products which the markets demand in order to make the venture profitable.

The programme was also attended by Homila Hongrei, director (ST) and Dr L Dinachandra Singh, director, MASTEC as presidium members.
