Imphal, December 09 2021:
Denizens of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai on Thursday tried to storm Lilong police station demanding unconditional release of Yumkhaibam Bimol of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai.
A sit-in demonstration was staged at Lilong Arapti'Maning Leikai condemning the arrest of Bimol and later the protestors tried to storm the police station.
However, arrival of additional police teams foiled their bid.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai Women Association general secretary Mayengbam Jeenat contended that Yumkhaibam Bimol is an innocent person and he was arrested by a team of Imphal West district commando for questioning him by Imphal West SP as he had spoken in favour of intending candidate ThounaojamBrinda.
However, it is unfortunate that Bimol was later charged as an over ground worker of the proscribed KYKL after he was handed over to Lilong police station, she condemned.
Making it clear that an innocent person should not branded as a UG activist after arrest, she clarified that Bimol is a blacksmith by profession.
More intense form of agitations will be launched if he is not release unconditionally, she cautioned.
