RIMS reviews facilities

An emergency meeting of the Director, faculties, high officials and healthcare providers of RIMS was held yesterday afternoon to review facilities and discuss ways and means of overcoming minor obstacles with a view to sprucing up diagnostic and treatment facilities .
The meeting was held in the backdrop of allegations of negligence from some quarters.
Prof S Sekharjit, Director, made it clear that RIMS is basically for treating those serious patients referred to it.
But the expectations of the patients are so high that patients with even common ailments are scrambling in RIMS.
To cope with the multiplying number of patients, he exhorted the faculties and super specialists to be punctual and be present during office hours.
Faculties who have to deal with the patients including those who require urgent testings and treatment had pointed out some minor and temporary hurdles.
The problems were solved with the Director instructing to shift the machines from other departments till the glitches of one or two machines in the emergency ward are set right in a matter of two or three days.
He also pointed out that as per WHO report 60 per cent of the equipments in the world's major hospitals are unserviceable.
An official memorandum is circulated from time to time to remind the faculties that they cannot indulge in private practice.
There are complaints galore and some powerful agencies are looking into some allegations.
He underlined the imperative need of the presence of the healthcare providers in RIMS during the office hours.
He also said that now operations are allowed on Saturdays which were holidays in the past.
Besides the emergency ward is opened 24 hours a day, conveyed a press release issued by the RIMS media advisor.
