Khamsinthui stars in GUFA's title win

Khamsin-thui Gonmei emerged as the star for Gaipuinam United Football Association (GUFA) scoring both the goals in the final of the 9th Jadonang Memorial foot-ball tournament against Nam- thanlong Youth Club (NYC) at THAU Ground.
After opening the score only three minutes into play, Khamsinthui scored the winning goal with his second in the 32nd minute to help GUFA clinch the title and Rs 50,000 top prize with 2-0 scoreline.
NYC settled for Rs 30,000 prize.
As chief guest of the closing ceremony Chief Minister O Ibobi said the government will do the needful for installing bronze statue of Jadonang at his memorial complex in Keishampat.
He said "organising such tournament in memory of our freedom fighters will remind us of the sacrifice they made for our motherland and will go a long way in understanding and love among all the communities in the state for bringing peace and development.
The closing function was presided over by Amu Kamei president Zeliangrong Union Assam, Manipur and Naga-land with Works Minister Dr Ratankumar Singh as the guest of honour.
As best discipline team and best march past team NKYC, Namgaijang and CRYC, Chingmeirong were respectively awarded Rs 5000 each with Khamsinthui Gonmei declared the tournament's best player carrying Rs 3000 award and same amount presented to NYC's Jangongmei Thaimei as winner of the best goalkeeper award.
NYC's M Thengai and Crispin Kamson of GUFA shared the top scorers' prize while the champions' Dinthao-lung Gonmei was adjudged the best team coach, both the prizes carrying Rs 3000 each.
