Anjuman disposes drugs worth Rs 21 lakh

The Anjuman Islahi Muasharah (AIM) has disposed drugs worth around Rs 21 lakh in the international market by setting them ablaze today.
Between February 12, 2011, the day AIM was set up and December 2013, the anti-drug group seized a number of illegal drugs and disposed them off.
For the ninth time, AIM disposed off the seized drugs today.
Before this, the group set ablaze drugs worth Rs 30 lakh.
Illegal drugs so far disposed off by the AIM were 10,664 bottles of cough syrup, 3,51,121 numbers of SP capsules, 9,973 numbers of N-10 tablets, 11,360 numbers of M Doxin, 1,66,500 numbers of Solcuf tablets, 1,42,000 numbers of Lupidin tablets, 85 gm of heroin, 829 litres of liquor and 2900 Kgs of opium.
Anjuman Special Media Award which has been instituted for the first this year has been conferred to Raja Thongkhongmayum of The Sangai Express.

According to AIM secretary Moulana Habib Ullah, the award would be conferred to media persons every year who reports the activities of AIM in detail and with clarity.
The award is sponsored by Thoubal Zilla Parishad Member Moulana Abdul Salam.
Before setting ablaze the seized drugs, AIM president Moulana Kayamuddin flagged off a bike rally from Karampat public ground, Lilong Kaleikhong.
Among others, Agriculture and Fishery Minister Abdul Nasir participated in the bike rally.
The rally carried placards which read as "Let's stop abusing drugs", "Let's stop peddling drugs", "Let's wipe out all kinds of drugs from the surface of Earth", "Let's fight together against drug abuse" etc.
This was followed by inauguration of a rehabilitation centre christened Anjuman Mental and Spiritual Fitness Centre built behind Lilong Dam Keithel by AIM chief advisor Moulana Abdul Aziz.
Later at a function held at the office complex of AIM, a stolen Honda Activa recovered in the intervening night of November 30 and December 1 was handed over to the owner.
The Honda Activa was lifted from dice game venue of Thoubal Mela Ground Maning by Md Firoz Khan (32) s/o Makakmayum Khomei of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam Makha.
The two-wheeler belongs to Waikhom Nongthomba Mangang of Thoubal Achouba.
