Jiribam, December 08 2013 :
In protest against the shortage of Goverrnment teachers and failure of some teachers to comply with Government's transfer order, MSF Jiribam Special Branch, AMSU District Committe, DESAM local council and KSA Jiri Unit marched together, demanding better infrastructure and educational ground for the students.
Several Government offices remained closed for the past four days, paralyzing their functioning.
Earlier in a meeting with the Education Minister, the students bodies agreed to suspend their protest agitation after an MoU was signed.
Even as the Minister assured transfer and posting of teachers at Jiribam schools and colleges, some teachers have been defying the Government order and are refusing to join educational institutions located in Jiribam sub-division.
Enraged by the Government's inaction against these defiant teachers, the student bodies decided to shut down all Government offices in the sub-division.
Moreover, volunteers of the student groups have prohibited lifting of rice from the Jiribam FCI godown.
They are also forbidding unloading of rice from train compartments.
Incidentally, rice is brought to the godown from Lumding, Assam by train .
Meanwhile, a joint meeting with teachers transferred at Jiribam recently has been convened at AMSU District Committee office tomorrow .
