May Day observed

Like in other parts of the world, May Day was observed in different parts of the State yesterday.
Keirao AC MLA Thamarjit Karam was the chief guest of the celebration organised at Rupmahal Theatre by All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre (AMMUC).
AMMUC former president Sanajaoba Haobam and AMMUC president Thounaojam Iboyaima graced the occasion as president and guest of honour respectively.
Floral tributes were paid to late government and non-government workers in the function.
Social activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Associate Professor of MU, Chinglen Meisnam, AMWJU president A Mobi and Phulindro Konsam of COHR spoke as resource persons.
Imphal Municipal Employees Union also celebrated the day with IMC Chairperson N Raghumani as president.
JAC AMTUC-AMGEO also observed May Day.
Government employees and pensioners paid floral tributes to late employees.
Manipur Domestic Workers' Movement Organisation (MDWMO) organised International Labour Day under the theme, 'decent work for domestic workers' at DSSS hall, Mantripukhri yesterday.
Imphal West DC N Ashokumar, Fr Tomy Orumpakkat, Fr Ts Dominic, KVIC Assistant Director KVIC Salle Pao and Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chairperson Tombi Sharma were the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, N Ashokumar said that domestic workers must work with a sense of pride and dignity.
The DC also said that he was ready to extend help and support to the grievances of domestic workers.
A signature campaign which marked support to decent work for domestic workers was also conducted.
Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak and All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association also observed May Day yesterday.
