Imphal, May 02 2012:
Peeved with the alleged tardy progress of construction of the road stretch from Shangsak to Phungyar, the Hill Tribal Development Society, Ukhrul district has threatened to launch a series of agitations if the authority concerned fails to look into the matter within a week.
Addressing media persons this evening at the office of ICHAM at Luwangsangbam, Chairman of HTDS, Ngachonmi alleged that the construction of the 34 kms stretch of road in Ukhrul district is totally in shabby condition.
He asserted that the road is blacktopped without levelling the surface while adding that no authentic machine like Roller has been used in blacktopping the road.
Ngachonmi said his organisation would lauch intense agitation if the authority concerned fails to look into the matter within a week's time.
Speaking at the occasion, president of ICHAM, Rajendro (Boy) said the insincerity of Government officials and contractors are mainly to be held responsible for instilling a sense of alienation among the hill people.
Lambasting the insincere contractors and workers, he said that dishonest and corrupt contractors should be exposed through the media with the help of RTI.
