Imphal, May 02 2012:
Rubbishing the surrender ceremony held at the headquarters of IGAR (S) on April 30, the proscribed RPF has asserted that the 9 persons ascribed to be their men have nothing to do with either the RPF or its armed wing the PLA.
Launching a broadside against the O Ibobi Singh led Government, the chief of the Department of Publicity, RPF, Taohangsu Heiremcha said that rounding up youths from the nooks and crannies of the land for such 'surrender' will be an exercise in futility.
Referring back to 2005, the outfit recalled that on August 20, 2005 a number of retired PLA cadres were rounded up and a surrender drama was staged, it said.
Tearing apart the Chief Minister's statement that the armed movement is due to economic hardship, RPF said that nothing could be further from the truth.
The armed movement has been launched to right the wrong that has been committed against the people.
Recalling the statement of former Union Home Secretary GK Pillai on October 17, 2011 that the Prime Minister and the Union Home and the Union Home Minister should apologise to the people of Manipur for the wrong done earlier, RPF observed that Manipur, which existed as an independent Nation for thousands of years was made a Part C State of the Indian Union.
Acknowledging the admission of GK Pillai, RPF said that the 'elites' of Manipur have shied away from chipping in with their ideas and thoughts on this, driven by their own selfish needs.
The dependency syndrome is so endemic that for all decisions pertaining to the people and the land, the politicians rush to Delhi to settles issues which are strictly the the internal affairs of the people.
Dismissing the offer for peace talks, RPF observed that this is just a ploy to cover the mistreatment of the people and side step the issues which directly affect the people.
The ploy of the Chief Minister to mislead the people and derail the revolutionary struggle will never work and will stand defeated, said RPF and added that Ibobi should know that Manipur is lagging in the path of development not because of the armed movement but because it is a part of India.
