Imphal, March 27, 2014:
Claiming that the seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district which are included in Outer Manipur P/C are CPI's 'red zone', Thoubal district campaign committee secretary and CPI member Jiban said that the committee has been campaigning intensively to ensure that NCP's C Doungel gets not less than 50,000 votes from the seven Assembly segments.
Speaking at an election meeting at Kangpokpi community hall today, Jiban said the Congress candidate would secure much lesser vote this time in the seven Assembly segments for there was a total disconnect between the Congress MP and the people during the past five years.
Notwithstanding presence of many Congress MLAs in Thoubal district, people have been asking and studying what the Congress MP did in the seven Assembly segments during the past five years.
It is unlikely that the BJP candidate would work for the welfare of people.
There is a strong possibility that the BJP candidate, if elected, would work with a totally different perspective, not connected with people's concerns and issues, Jiban opined while asserting that NCP's C Doungel is the most qualified candidate to be elected to Parliament.
Nobody heard the Congress MPs speaking a word in the Parliament on any major issues of the State.
Gibbering a word or two during zero hour is not what the people of Manipur want, he said.
BSP State president Kabita said all party units based in the hill districts have been asked to campaign for C Doungel.
She also called upon female voters to take proactive roles if there should be a revolutionary change in the country's system of governance.
NCP candidate C Doungel and many other leaders of the party also spoke at the meeting.
