Imphal, March 27, 2014:
Denouncing it as a disgrace to the society, Naga Women's Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the incident in which a mother of four sons who runs a small business for living was gang-raped by three persons at Mao-Karong village in Senapati district on March 15 night.
While regretting that the information about the incident has come to light only after 10 days of committing the crime, the Naga women's body has also demanded tat befitting punishment be given to the culprits as preventive measures for ensuring such incidents are not repeated in future.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Wing, NWU observed that despite peoples' voice against the increasing trend of rape and sexual assault, the incident of a gang rape of a helpless widow aged 50 years by three men who forcibly entered the house by breaking the door and raped her with her hands tied, blindfolded and mouth covered with a pillow is another insult and humiliation against the society.
NWU also appealed to one and all to join hands to curb such evil act in the society from repeating in the future.
