Schools in Chandel inspected

Imphal, March 27, 2014: Under its educational campaign, 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi,' the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) in association with the Library and Information Science Students' Association of Manipur (LISSAM) inspected two schools in Chandel district today.

The inspection team expressed utter discontentment over the way the Liwachaning Govt HS at Komlathabi was run and managed.

It came to light during the inspection that the school has no clerk.

Out of 19 teachers of the school, only three of them were found attending the school today.

The number of students is unlikely to cross a hundred.

Although there was no notified holiday, no student was seen attending class today.

Unlike the Liwachangning Govt HS, the Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School at Chandel was found well run during the inspection spree.

Principal of the School, K Sangkham Monsang said that the school received benefits sanctioned by the Govt and RMSA.

However, there is lack of teachers.

He also expressed his wish to construct another science laboratory other than the one sanctioned by RMSA.

He also pointed out the need to construct a conference hall at the earliest.

Speaking to the accompanying reporters, vice-president of MSF, N Ibomcha demanded the authority concerned to look into the functioning and maintenance of Liwachangning Govt HS at Komlathabi at the earliest.

He also urged the Govt to look into the matter of infrastructure deficiency and lack of books in the library of the school.

Ibomcha also drawn the attention of the authority concerned to provide a library and adequate teachers to Maha Union Govt Highers Sec School without any further delay.

Later in the afternoon, the team went to the ZEO Chandel office where they were greeted with locked doors.

Keeping aside meeting the ZEO, the team found to their utter disappointment that no staff of the office has attended office.

The inspection team has also drawn the attention of the Education Minister to take stringent action against insincere staff and officials.
