National seminar, workshop held

A UGC-sponsored national seminar on 'Commerce and Management Education in the Emerging Multi-dimensional Settings' organised by DM College of Commerce was held today at the College auditorium.
The seminar was inaugurated with Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof H Nandakumar Sarma and DMC Commerce Principal Ng Brajakumar Singh as the chief guest and functional president respectively while Prof SS Khanka of NIFM (Faridababd), Prof GP Prasain of MU Commerce Department and Dr RK Yaiskul Singh, Additional Director of University and Higher Education (Govt of Manipur) were the guests of honour.
Noting that medical and engineering studies are more popular among the student community compared to the commerce stream, Prof Nandakumar said such a concept need to be changed as understanding intricacies about commerce can guarantee one a successful and prosperous future due to the fact that every aspect of life is centred around trade and commerce.
He also called upon the commerce teachers to ensure that the pupils are well aware about the nuances of commerce so that they could translate classroom teachings into successful ventures.
On the otherhand, a two-day national workshop cum training programme on 'Electronic Library Technology Content and Management' organised by NIT Manipur began from today at the Takyelpat campus of NIT.
The inaugural session was held with former Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof C Amuba Singh, NIT Manipur Director Dr Sarungbam Birendra Singh and IIT Roorkee (Uttarakhand) Librarian Yogendra Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
