Rape victim wears down, hospitalised

A traumatized rape victim was rushed to RIMS Hospital today as she became physically too weak apart from throwing up very often.
The 24 year old woman was raped in the security room of the Institute of Biore-sources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyel, Imphal West district under Lamphel police station at around 9 pm of March 16. The girl is said to be mentally challenged and she is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.
Traumatized by the incident, the rape victim could not eat or sleep leading to extreme fatigue.
At first, the victim never disclosed that she had been raped.
On observing her mental state and loss of physical strength and frequent vomiting, her mother and other family members asked the girl if anything wrong happened.
It was only after repeated questioning that the victim disclosed what happened in the night of March 16. The accused Ngamiyon (27) from Sugnu but staying at Sangaiprou, who was working as private security at IBSD, was pulled up by police on March 25. Both the victim and the accused were subjected to medical examination at RIMS yesterday.
After registration of FIR 16/2/2014, due investigation has been initiated under IPC Section 396. The accused would be produced before a relevant Court tomorrow.
Talking to media persons at RIMS today, family members of the victim said that Ngamiyon and the victim's father worked together as private security personnel at IBSD.
Moreover, the two families are known to each other.
As such the victim and the accused know each other.
A feature film was screened at the locality of the victim in the night of March 16. As the woman and her family were awaiting for the film, she was called out by Ngamiyon at around 8.30 pm.
The victim said that she and the accused went to IBSD sentry room to take a jacket.
Ngamiyon first went into the sentry room.
In the next moment, he dragged in the woman, closed the door from inside and raped her.
