Special Judge MPs and MLAs Manipur II today took cognizance in connection with the defamation case filed against Ex MLA Kakching AC Yengkhom Surchandra and his son and called report from the City Police Station for further hearing on April 4 .
The defamation case was filed by sitting MLA of Kakching AC Mayanglambam Rameshwar against Ex MLA Yengkhom Surchandra and his son Yengkhom Mayeksana of Kakching Turel Wangma.
The defamation petition mentions that on the date of the scrutiny of recently concluded 12 State Assembly elections Ex MLA and his son raised strong objections to the Returning Officer about the non-disclosure of the FIR case registered against the complainant before the City PS in January 2018 in the form number 26 of the complainant election affidavit.
MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar stated before the Court today that he had enquired about the said case of January 2018 to SP Imphal West but found that the case was registered against unknown individuals and hence the defamation petition was being filed against the Ex MLA and his son.
The Court after examination of complaint took cognizance and call report from city Police Station in connection with the particular FIR case and fixed April 4 for hearing.
