Imphal, March 25 2022:
The CAF &PD Commissioner has intimated the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Imphal Divisional Office to direct oil tankers carrying POL (Petroleum Oil Lubricant) and LPG bullet tanker trucks to take National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) instead of NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) in bringing in petroleum products to the State.
Notably, movement of goods carriers along NH-2 has been suspended since Wednesday (March 24) following imposition of indefinite shutdown by the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) in its jurisdiction demanding removal of the police outpost from Dzuko valley in Senapati district.
SAPO is based at Zakhama, Nagaland.
Reportedly, SAPO is deploying about 25 volunteers each at 20 sites identified by the Southern Angami Youth Organisation to make the indefinite shutdown effective.
As the State is likely to witness shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG due to the shutdown, the CAF&2D has written to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Imphal Divisional office to send security convoys to Imphal-Jiribam road until the situation improves along NH-2.It is further reported that over 200 tanker trucks which are transporting petroleum products to the Stare are currently stranded at Khatkhati, Assam.
