Vice Chancellor of CAU Imphal, Dr Anupam Mishra has categorically stated that Manipur is home to different plants with medicinal properties which have the potential to increase farmers' income and improve the State's economy.
Addressing a function organised by Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal today, the VC continued that North East is a biodiversity hotspot which is favourable for growing medicinal plants.
About 344 farmers and entrepreneurs attended the programme where seedlings and different equipment were distributed to the farmers.
Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Research CAU Imphal, Dr S Bashanta Singh, Dean of College of Agriculture CAU Imphal, Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean of College of Food Technology, CAU Imphal, Dr Ng Joykumar Singh and Conservator of Forest cum State Nodal Officer of TRIFED Manipur, Gaithaolu also attended the programme.
