Imphal, May 21 2021:
The Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has expressed solidarity to the 'Black Day' observation called on May 26 by Samyukt Kisan Morcha in denunciation of the farm laws enacted in September last year by the Government of India.
The black day is to be observed to mark completion of 6 months of protest by farmers' bodies across India against the farm laws which they touted as unjust to the farmers and a way to give undue advantage to the corporates, said a statement of CPI-MSC.
Not only the Central Government has sidelined the grievances of the farmers but also compounded their woes by doubling the prices of fertilizers and hiking prices of petrol and diesel which the farmers use for irrigation purposes, it charged.
In view of the scenario, the Modi-led Government is never going to achieve its aim of doubling the income of the farmers, it said while demanding to repeal the controversial farm laws at the earliest to ensure farmers prosper.
CPI-MSC also demanded withdrawal of all forms of taxes levied on diesel and petrol.
