Cong remembers Rajiv, flags off two ambulances

As Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 30th death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi at Congress Bhawan here, party's state president MLA Govindas Konthoujam flagged off two ambulances for transportation of Covid-19 positive patients to mark the observance, which was also held in different assembly constituencies.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, former chief minister and CLP leader O Ibobi informed that the party will provide one ambulance and 10 to 15 oxygen concentrators each to all the Covid Care Centres functioning in the state.
The Congress party has been working relentlessly to realise the dream of new India that the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi dreamt of.
Flagging off two ambulances and decision to provide ambulances and oxygen concentrators to each of the CCCs was part of the party's effort to help the public in the fight against the pandemic, he said.
Noting that urban areas have better facilities whle people in rural areas are facing severe hardships during the current pandemic, Ibobi affirmed that the party will prioritise CCCs in those districts, which are facing shortage of oxygen and ambulances.
He also appealed to the public to strictly follow the Covid relevant SOPs laid down by the government authority and stay safe from the pandemic.
The anniversary observance in respect of Noney district was held at the official residence of AICC CWC member Gaikhangam at Babupara here in the presence of DC Noney, CMO, ADC members and other top officials.
On the occasion, Gaikhangam donated one oxygen concentrator, PPE kits, face masks, hand sanitisers and food materials to the district authority.
MPCC general secretary (administration) Hareshwar Goswami & Yaiskul BCC president Ph Guneshwar led the observance for Yaiskul AC during which foods, masks and hand sanitisers were distributed to poor families.
MLA Ak Mirabai led the observance for Patsoi AC organised by Patsoi BCC at Tao bungkhok.
Later, the MLA distributed essential commodities to families living within containment zone.
She also provided three oxygen concentrator machines and one ambulance to the BCC for helping Covid patients of the constituency who are in home isolation.
