Imphal, May 21 2021:
The Loktak Project Affected Hills Area Chief Association (LPAHACA), Churachandpur has appealed to the government of Manipur for fair, sufficient and regular supply of essential items under PDS, NFSA and PMGKAY schemes to people of the area.
In a release, LPAHACA secretary THD Wakanrei stated that the Loktak Project area falls under Kangvai sub-division of Churachandpur district with the its inhabitants comprising Aimol, Chiru, Kom, Rongmei and other tribes enrolled under Henglep assembly constituency.
Most of the people in these villages are farmers and daily wagers and they have been facing serious hardships due to the sudden imposition of curfew as a preventive measure for combating the Covid-19 second wave.
LPAHACA stated that compare to the whole population of the area, there are only a few NFSA card holders amply reflecting negligence of the government and district administration.
Owing to such indifferent attitude of authorities concerned only limited and sporadic supplies of NFSA and PDS commodities reach the said residents.
The secretary also demanded that since the area has a population of 10,000 above, a Covid Care Centre should be set up with adequate equipment and facilities including manpower as Covid-19 positive cases are increasing day by day at an alarming rate.
He also pointed out since resignation of the Henglep AC MLA as a member of Manipur Legislative Assembly, people of the area have been with out a representative to voice their grievances and hence deprived of the schemes and other government assistance.
It also appealed to the district administration and the CM to address grievances of the minority communities settling around the Loktak Project area of Churachandpur district.
