Imphal, September 20:
The dillying dallying tactics adopted by the State Govt in holding the DPC for promotion of MPS officers to the IPS cadre is causing a lot of heart burn amongs the MPS officers in the State, disclosed a senior MPS officer.
Talking to The Sangai Express, the senior officer lamented that the State Govt's apathy towards the MPS officers have made the officers feel neglected and have largely affected their performances.
Even though 72 IPS posts have been established in the State since 1998, all of them are still lying vacant as no DPC have been conducted till today for the promotion of the MPS officers to the rank of IPS officers', said the senior officer adding that Ngairakpam attached to PHQ, Samte (under suspension), Rajendro, CO Home Guard and IK Haokip CO 7th MR are some of the MPS officer from the 1975 batch who have fulfilled the criteria for promotion to the IPS rank.
Some of the MPS officers from the 1975 batch had already been promoted to the rank of IGP, added the officer.
He also informed that S Manglemjao CO incharge II IRB, G Bimolchandra SP Chandel, Chandramani SP Imphal East, S Ibocha SP Imphal West and Chandrasekhar Singh CO 1st IRB are some of the MPS officers from the 1983 batch who are eligible for promotion to the IPS rank.
Informing that one out of the nine MPS officers included in the selected list, has already crossed the age bar, the senior officer lamented that most of the MPS officers are still holding the ranks of SPs or COs even after being in service for nearly 29 years.
Mention may be made here that the High Court had also issued a directive to the State Govt to hold a DPC for the officers included in the select list.
Three MPS officers will be retiring in 2005 Feb/March, he added.
