Imphal, September 20:
Following the blockade imposed on the two National Highways by the Apunba Lup as part of the demand to totally lift the AFSPA from the State, no passenger buses left Imphal today.
The blockade came into effect from midnight yesterday.
According the reports received here, 35 goods laden trucks and eight passenger buses crossed Mao gate today from Dimapur side to proceed towards Imphal.
Forty four empty trucks also left Imphal today.
Though no buses bound for Dimapur or Guwahati left for Imphal today, passenger buses plying up to Mao did plied as usual.
Vehicular movement was normal on the Imphal-Moreh route on NH-39 today.
Eleven buses and Tata Sumos reached Imphal from Moreh today.
No buses left Imphal for Jiribam on NH-53 today.
Sources said that four passenger buses left Jiribam for Imphal but till the time of filing this report it could not be confirmed whether the buses had reached Imphal or not.
