Text books fiasco continues

Taking serious note over the controversy centering around failure of ensuring availability of prescribed text books of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur to the students, three student bodies, namely AMSU, MSF and KSA have jointly issued stern warning to the printing firms requisitioned for printing the text books.
Addressing a joint press conference at the office of KSA at Sega Road here today, general secretary of MSF Anash Shah informed that in all 62 printing firms have been requisitioned for the purpose of printing the prescribed text books of the Board.
But some of the printing firms have not been able to submit the printed text books in time to the Board.
Taking serious note of the matter, a joint meeting of the Board officials and representatives of the printing firms and the student bodies was convened and accordingly it was decided that the text books would be made available within April 18 .

As the deadline has expired, representatives of student bodies inspected the printing firms yesterday and found that many of them have not completed the task assigned to them.
The student bodies have demanded that printing firms which would not be able to submit the text books by April 30 should surrender the printing materials to the Board by tomorrow.
