MGNREGS wages not a free money: Mangi

The wages for 100 days in a year one get under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme should not be taken as free money, said chairman MANIDCO, MLA N Mangi today.
Mangi who graced an inauguration function of a community hall constructed under the Local Area Development fund of the MLA at Torbung Sabal Leikai said that MGNREGS has been helping the rural area of the state in many ways.
The wages of the scheme has been increased to Rs 126 per day from its previous Rs 80.81.Job card holders should do their jobs sincerely under the scheme.
They should not take the money as free money.
He urged the job card holders to insure themselves under the insurance schemes which come with MGNREGS.
There two insurance schemes one of which is a life insurance while the other is a health insurance.
He also said that a police station will be opened between the stretch from Moirang Lamkhai to Torbung in order to prevent illegal activities in the area.
A PHSC is also under construction which will be completed soon.
The function was presided over by Ngangkhalawai ZP member N Sanahanbi.
Torbung GP Pradhan CH Sanahanbi and BDO Moirang L Kunjo also attended as guest of honour.
Earlier, MLA N Mangi distributed instruments needed for MGNREGS to job card holders of eight wards of Saiton GP.
