DLSA CCpur organises online training programme

CCpur, July 19 2021:
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Churachandpur organized a one day online training programme on the topic "Criminalization of Drug Users: A threat to health and social development " today.
The training was attended by Judicial Officers, president and secretary of the District BAR CCpur along with its members, Lamka Rehabilitation And Research Centre (LRRC), Social Care Ministry, Society for HIV/AIDS and Lifeline Operation Manipur, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, SHALOM NGO, panel lawyers, retainer lawyer, Para Legal Volunteers of Churachandpur district, said a press release by DLSA, Churachandpur.
The training commenced by a welcome speech by Janggoulen Haokip, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary of DLSA, CCpur.
After which N Keertichand Singh, District &Sessions Judge cum Chairman of DLSA, CCpur delivered the keynote address.
The resource person Nalinikanta Rajkumar, president of Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) mentioned about how drug users were criminalized.
He also stressed on the necessity of providing medical attention rather than criminalizing them.
He also expressed concern on the reports and data wherein some rehabilitation centers in Churachandpur treated the inmates in sub human conditions by using methods of chaining the inmates.
