Land development for construction of the eco-tourism project at Mualnuam sub-divisional headquarters has been started since the early part of this month under the initiative of the minister of tribal affairs (hills), transport and GAD.
The land has been donated by the chief of Mualnuam village.
Sources informed this daily that if the land development works continue unhindered it would be finished soon.
The area estimated for the project is 100 x 200 square feet and is situated on the upslope hill range of the village.
Sources also said that 30 percent of construction cost of the eco tourist destination is to be funded through the MLALAD and another 30 percent by the state's tourism department.
This eco-tourism destination facility includes one cafeteria, public utility, open stage, pathway, drainage and landscape.
As of now, a similar tourist spot is being constructed at a hilltop in Buangmun village under Singngat assembly.
However, there are no reports available regarding tourist project works being carried out in other constituencies of the district.
