Curfew intensified as cases, fatalities rise in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, July 19 2021:
Kangpokpi witnessed stricter curfew on the second day with the district police stepping up vigil on movement of people and vehicles.
Kangpokpi town wore a completely deserted look on Monday as the local bodies under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee using PA system notified the people of the town on Sunday night to follow the government orders and avoid venturing out from their homes during the curfew period.
Meanwhile, 21 new positive cases were detected in the last 24 hours pushing the infection count to 167 while the fatality also surged to 49 following the death of two people of the district on Monday.
A 55-year old Mangthang of Saparmeina died at JNIMS at 2:15 am while a 32-year old woman of Kangpokpi Ward No.11 succumbed at RIMS around 1:52 am.
Many positive cases were also detected again in Kangpokpi town and Keithelmanbi during conduct of contact tracing by the medical department in collaboration with volunteers of the respective COVID Task Force.
Meanwhile, mass vaccination programme was carried out at Tokpa Nepali village by the medical department under the supervision of Dr Pilhing, MO PHC Kalapa-har, in collaboration with CTF Santolabari Parsian and AMGSU Santolabari Parsain unit.
Around 108 people were vaccinated during the drive.
Interestingly, a differently-abled (visually impaired) man opened the vaccination drive by receiving his first dose, setting a good example for those vaccine-hesitant people.
With the vaccination drive at Tokpa Nepali on Monday, the village is now 99 per cent vaccinated and the CTF Santolabari Parsain volunteers have pledged of making their village fully vaccinated.
