Pension disbursed

Imphal, April 09 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh distributed pension to 18 retired employees of six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) at a function held today at his Secretariat.
The function was organized by the Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills.
Speaking on the occasion, N Biren Singh stated that ADCs are part of the State Government and work under its purview.
Keeping in view the welfare of the employees of the ADCs and their livelihood after retirement, the State Cabinet had introduced and approved the implementation of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees of the six ADCs on December 4, 2018, he added.
He further stated that a separate Pension Cell for ADCs was created under the Directorate of Tribal Affairs and Hills and the same had started functioning with effect from November 4, 2019 with the engagement of one Senior Accountant and three Accountants.
He informed that the pension scheme covers 3,273 employees of the six ADCs.
Of the total, around 800 employees have retired while 110 have expired.
As on March 31, 2021, Provisional Gratuity has been disbursed to 157 employees of the six ADCs and the Finance Department has also given concurrence to 15 expired employees for payment of pension benefits through Treasury concerns, he added.
He further informed that an amount of Rs 25 crore and Rs 30 crore have been allocated in the budget for payment of pension for the year 2020-21 and 2021-22 respectively.
N Biren also urged the employees of the ADCs to attend office regularly and render their services actively as they are now getting pension benefits as other State Government's employees do.
He further appealed to them to maintain transparency in performing their duties for bringing overall development in the State.
Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Vungzagin Valte, Chairman, Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ginsuanhau, Additional Chief Secretary Letkhogin Haokip, Director, Tribal Affairs and Hills C Arthur Worchuiyo, officials of the Department and beneficiaries of the pension scheme attended the function.
