The Minister explained that the present Government is working very hard to improve the education sector in the State.
There have been renovations and constructions of new infrastructures of the Government colleges and other educational institutions during the last few years with the available fund.
Many new structures have also been inaugurated and handed over to the authorities of the institutions concerned, he added.
He said that Don Bosco College, Maram had recently become an autonomous institution in the State.
The autonomy status of the college was conferred by University Grants Commission for scoring 3.5 credit point score under National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC.

State level task force has also been constituted for successful implementation of the policy in the state.

District and sub divisional level awareness programmes on NEP are also being organised in colleges as an initiative to give awareness by the Department of Education (U).

Only qualified colleges will have the facilities to get funds and grants from UGC and RUSA, he added.
The Minister maintained that the New Education Policy is a multi-perspective initiative of the Government.
Students will not only get academic knowledge under NEP but also get training in many dimensions like vocational courses.
After their degree they will be able to fit themselves into many jobs, he added.
Speaking at the function Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi Singh said that knowledge is very important in any field.
