Electoral roll authentication prog launched Duplicate voters to be deleted

National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP), aimed at bringing a totally error free and authenticated electoral roll has been launched today all over the country.
Briefing media persons at his Secretariat office today, State Chief Electoral Officer O Nobokishore said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has informed all CEOs of States and Union territories about the National level programme launched today.
The new programme would link and authenticate EPIC data of electors with Aadhar data.
It is basically aimed at rectifying all kinds of errors in the electors' names, addresses and other details.
The new programme would delete duplicate voters and rectify multiple entries.
In case, voters come out voluntarily and disclose multiple entries, all such cases would be disposed within 15 days by the EROs concerned.
Correction of errors or any relevant entry pertaining to electors would be done within 15 days under the new programme, Nobokishore said.
Any complaint about the quality of photographs as affixed in EPIC would be considered positively.
Insertion of mobile numbers and email addresses of electors for facilitating delivery of information and notices to voters is another objective of NERPAP.
Linking Aadhar number with EPIC database can be done by electors themselves through email or by logging in to National Voters Service Portal.
They may also submit their Aadhar numbers by sending an SMS to 51969 or by dialling the toll free number 1950 .
Moreover, a mobile app about NERPAP may be launched by the second week of March, the CEO said.
On the other hand, ECI's Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) has been paying more attention to women electorate.
Arrangements are being made to provide T-shirts and banners to youth clubs, NGOs and CSOs which are organising Yaoshang sports .
These T-shirts and banners carry messages about SVEEP campaign and they may be obtained from the CEO's office in the next two days.
These T-shirts and banners are embossed with the words "Proud to be a woman voter" and this arrangement is being made keeping in view the International Women Day (March 8), Nobokishore added.
