Four UGs arrested

A combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 2 AR arrested a PREPAK (Pro) cadre while conducting cordon and search operation at Langathel area yesterday.
A statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept identified the arrested man as Sinam Yaima alias Leisemba alias Chingakpa (37) s/o (L) S Lukhoi Singh of Nongpok Sekmai Awang Leikai.
Investigation revealed that he is presently working in the finance section of PREPAK (Pro) organisation.
A case has been registered at Kakching PS and investigation is on, it added.
Meanwhile, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended one Hmar National Army (HNA) cadre from the general area of Khawmawi, Churachandpur yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the PRO (Defence Wing) Imphal, based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of one HNA cadre, the troops of the Division immediately launched an operation at 9.30 pm yesterday.
The party reached the vicinity of the suspected house, cordoned it and apprehended the cadre at 10.05 pm after a thorough search.
One US made 9 mm pistol with magazine, one country made 9 mm pistol with magazine and five live rounds of 9 mm pistol were recovered from the cadre's possession at the time of the apprehension.
The apprehendee along with the recoveries was handed over to Imphal West police station.
In an unrelated incident, troops of Loktak Brigade under Red Shield Division apprehended two hard core URF cadres in the early hours of yesterday.
Acting swiftly on the input received regarding presence of a URF UG cadre at Marangching-V village, a team was launched which apprehended the active cadre namely SS Lieutenant Meipak (40) of Koutruk in Imphal West district along with one AK-56 rifle and 20 live rounds, the PRO (Defence Wing) statement further said.
In a separate operation, another URF Cadre was apprehended from the general area of Tairenpokpi.
The cadre was identified as SS Private Ningthoujam Ramesh Singh (35) of Tairenpokpi in Imphal West district.
One lathod gun was recovered from the apprehendee.
The arrsted cadres along with weapons recovered were handed over to Patsoi Police Station, it added.
