Imphal, March 03 2015 :
Members of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System Women Wing today tried to storm the Chief Minister's residence demanding implementation of ILPS or a similar law in the State.
They also demanded the Chief Minister and his council of Ministers to step down from their respective positions maintaining that they are unable to introduce a Bill regarding implementation of ILPS in the ongoing State Assembly session.
Holding pro-ILPS banners, the womenfolk emerged from Nityaipat Chuthek side at around 11 am and marched towards the CM's bungalow.

However, they were blocked by a police team led by traffic police OC Rameshwar at the traffic point located near the CM's bungalow.
Even as a brief scuffle broke out between the police team and women agitators, women police personnel were called to the area to control the agitating womenfolk.
Later, another police team led by Imphal West Additional SP (Law and Order) S Ibomcha also arrived at the spot and mollified the agitation.
Speaking to reporters before she along with 27 women agitators were detained in Imphal police station, JCILPS Women Wing convenor Nganbi said that they were compelled to stage the demonstration as the present Government has failed to introduce a Bill in the ongoing Assembly session to protect the indigenous people of the State till date.
Alleging that Okram Ibobi is indulging in double-standard, Nganbi said that the Chief Minister has not translated his promises into action regarding the issue till date.
The Convenor further said that JCILPS Women Wing would intensify their pro-ILPS agitation with the help of the general public if the Government fails to introduce the Bill in the ongoing Assembly session.
Later, police detained 27 leaders of JCILPS Women Wing including its convenor at Imphal police station.
However, all of them were released late in the evening.
