Imphal, November 08 2015:
Newly elected President of Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (MPMCC) L Tilotama was felicitated on Sunday at the one-day political convention on "Vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru: An architect of Modern India" held at YLL Ground of Pishumthong Ningom Leirak.
Attending the convention, organised by Keishamthong Block Congress Committee, as Chief Guest, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated no politicians in India's history could match the calibre of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru whose only duty was to sacrifice for the people of India.
He also said following great leader Nehru, there were many Congress leaders who had sacrificed their lives for the people.
The Chief Minister said it was "unfortunate" that BJP is now asking the achievements of Congress in the last 50 years while forgetting that India attained the stature of a world power only after Congress leaders made efforts.
He pointed out that India's economy sunk during the "irregular reign" of BJP-led Governments at the Centre.
He also reminded that India adopted liberalization after former Prime Minister Naramsimha Rao implemented the policy.
"A communal party like BJP will not be able to bring integration in a State like Manipur where number of communities has been living together since a long time", said Ibobi while promising to show the activities undertaken by the Congress for Manipur.
He said planning and development are never an ending processes and the Congress will bring a change in the country by 2017 .
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stated that former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the true architect of modern India.
During his time, the country adopted the path of development throught the introduction of the five-year-plan system.
The convention was also attended by MPCC Vice President Tongbram Mangibabu, former education minister L Jayentakumar, L Tilotama and others.
