Imphal, November 08 2015:
People of Manipur will face innumerable troubles if a communal party like the BJP comes into power, pointed out Chief Minister O Ibobi on Sunday at the flag hoisting ceremony of INC candidate in Thangmeiband A/C Waikhom Jotin.
Attending the ceremony as the Chief Guest, Ibobi said that Manipur is a State inhabited by communities pursuing different cultural and religious traditions since time immemorial and the people will be committing a mistake if they vote for a party like BJP known for spreading communalism.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited many places in Bihar and campaigned for many days before the election in Bihar.
But people of Bihar have understood BJP and their politics and so they decided to teach the party a lesson.
Out of the total seats of 243 in Bihar, Congress and its alliance bagged 156 seats while BJP and its alliance managed to secured only 75 seats.
BJP loss in Bihar because it failed to fulfill promises made in the last election", said O Ibobi.
The Chief Minister further said that prominent scholars and writers in the country had expressed their willingness to return awards condemning the communal nature of BJP.
BJP continues to engage in communal politics and recently it even tried to ban cooking of beef, said Ibobi.
Attending the ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that the bye-elections to
the Thongju and Thangmeiband A/Cs will be held as a result of disqualification of two MLAs.
Contesting the bye-elections again after disqualification is unfortunate and people should need to think over it.
Gaikhangam further said that many veteran politicians who used to blame national parties have started speaking after joining BJP.
But people of Manipur know that a communal party like BJP is not suitable for the State.
The ceremony was also attended by Jotin Waikhom, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj, MLA K Ranjit, O Landhoni and Ksh Biren among others.
