Imphal, November 08 2015:
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers'Union has appealed to Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) to suspend its economic blockade in view of the Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Speaking to reporters at their office, union general secretary Maimom Anil said that around 300 Imphal-bound loaded vehicles are stranded at Jiribam due to the economic blockade.
If the ongoing stir is not relaxed or called off, many transporters, drivers and handymen would not be able to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba festival with their sisters and families.
Saying that Ningol Chakkouba is a rare festival which comes once in a year, Anil urged JDDC to lift the economic blockade so that the stranded transporters may reach their homes on time.
On the other hand, Anil said that the union would support JDDC in every possible way in the days to come until committee's demand is fulfil.
He also urged the State Government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
