Medical camp conducted
2/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) under the aegis of Loktak Brigade of Red Shield Division organised a free medical camp at Lower Ngarian today.
Around 400 villagers from Ngarian and adjoining villages were examined at the camp apart from distribution of medicines free of cost.
BSNL stir suspended
Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations, Manipur district has suspended its pen-down/tool-down strike till further order following rounds of talks between forum representatives and CGMT, BSNL, NE-Circle, Dimapur at Dimapur and Imphal.
Management of BSNL NE-II and forum have arrived at an understanding regarding transfer of J Lunkim, GMTD, BSNL, manipur SS A, said a press release.
Book released
A poem compilation book entitled "Taibang Kumhei", written by Hemba Lamangdong was released by The Manipuri Parishad, Bishnupur District Branch at Kiyamba Shanglen, reports our correspondent.
The programme was attended by Laishram Nabakishore, Padmashri Awardee, Huirem Sanayaima Singh, president, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Bishnupur District Branch and Ahongshangbam Tejmani Singh, Retd Head of Department, Manipuri Department, Nambol L Sanoi College as presidium members.
Signature, poster campaign
The Schedule Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM), Youth Wing has initiated a signature, poster and membership campaign to beef up its demand for ST status for the Meetei at Khwairamband Keithel today.
A statement issued by STDCM secretary has ex- tended gratitude to the women vendors of Khwairamband for their participation and sup-Port in the campaign.
Annual assembly concludes
The 14th Men Department Annual Assembly of Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) concluded today at Noney (Longmai) Part- IV Baptist Church; reports our correspondent.
Participated by more than 80 delegates of 58 Churches from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur affiliated with RNBA, the two-day event was held under the theme "Expose the hidden talent" .
Sambei villagers urge
People of Sambei village in Imphal East district have urged the State Government to set up a film institute at Ngakhapat Thangjirok.
A joint meeting of Sambei Village Authority, Sambei Youth Club, Women Welfare Association, Sambei, Lairembi Ima Committee, JFMC Sambei and Village Water Supply and Sanitation Committee on November 6 .
It is resolved in the meeting to urge the Government to set up a film institute at Sambei.
